The countdown is on – in just over six months’ time, the TRA 2018 in Vienna will happen! So the preparations are already in full swing. The design of the programme is progressing and the exhibition area is well booked. We can also proudly present five new sponsors of TRA 2018: BMW, ASFINAG, voestalpine, Kapsch and Siemens. The interview series with TRA partners continues with ERRAC and Waterborne. Call for Marketplace Posters at TRA 2018 is now open

Submit your poster by 5th December


Marketplace Posters (MPP) will show innovations and solutions with high market relevance and implementation potential at the TRA 2018 in Vienna. The call for these MPPs has just opened and they can be submitted until 5th December.

TRA 2018 programme taking real shape

Get informed about the actual deadlines and next steps

The deadline for the submission of full papers for the technical and scientific sessions ended by 2nd October 2017. Following this, the decision from the full paper review will be sent to the authors by 28th November 2017. Due to the high number of full paper submissions, TRA 2018 is still looking for reviewers with high expertise in the field of transport research.

The Interactive Zone at TRA 2018

Call is now closed – the demonstration Zone is coming together


The 2nd Call for Interest for the Interactive Zone closed on 15th September. We received more than 50 submissions. The Interactive Zone will be one of the highlights of TRA 2018. It offers a great chance to interactively present state of the art research and technologies to both participants and the media. The heart of the Interactive Zone is the Demonstration & Showcases Zone. Get informed about the next steps!

It brings together the industry stakeholders with the EU member states, the European Commission services and stakeholders from science and society. ERRAC learns from other transport sectors

Interview Series “A Digital Era for Transport”


ERRAC comprises 45 representatives from each of the major European rail research stakeholders: manufacturers, operators, infrastructure managers, the European Commission, EU Member States, academics and users’ groups. ERRAC covers all forms of rail transport. We spoke with Andy Doherty, ERRAC Chairman and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Network Rail, about his expectation from Transport Research Arena 2018 in Vienna. “TRA is already the biggest and best forum for transport research”. We are also at TRA 2018 to learn from other transport sectors and to integrate their emerging developments into our programme”.

The deadline for registration and final submission to the TRA VISIONS 2018 Young Researchers competition has been extended to the end of October 2017, so you still have a few weeks to submit your innovative project! However, the deadline for the Senior Research competition has now closed with a record number of submissions.
