Sponsors delighted with TRA2018, especially the exhibition
We talked to selected sponsors of TRA2018 to ask them about their impressions of the event, and here are the responses we received:
ASFINAG
“The intensive exchange of content with important innovative players in fields of traffic and infrastructure was gainful and a win-win-situation from the perspective of ASFINAG in the course of this year´s TRA. Many promising opportunities are currently opening up in terms of construction, maintenance and the next generation of traffic info services. TRA gave us the opportunity to meet and talk to many thrilling personalities from the national and international world of mobility at our stand and in the Interactive Zone. Presentations provided sufficient information about all facets of mobility of the future such as digitalisation and automatisation and therefore gave an indication about how new technologies will influence road transport in a positive way. Motivation was felt everywhere – motivation to find answers and solutions for the mobility needs of tomorrow. The TRA has shown that the community is working jointly on an environmentally friendly and multimodal traffic system and that ASFINAG is on the right track to participating. #readyforthefuture”

Voestalpine
Voestalpine’s Metal Engineering Division featured at TRA 2018 as an exhibitor and gold sponsor. In his presentation during the Strategic Session 3.3: Infrastructure and Decarbonised Transport on Wednesday 18th April 2018, Jochen Holzfeind, CTO of voestalpine Railway Systems, defined the best bidder principle as well as price as an optimised combination of desired performance criteria with economic as well as ecological factors: “Now the time has come to pay more attention to the idea of the environment, for example in tenders. As a technology leader and global player in rail travel, we see our responsibility not only in delivering advanced products for use in digitalised systems, but also in sustainable services along the entire life cycle.”

“The organisation of TRA 2018 was outstanding, in particular the exhibition. This organisation is certainly a benchmark for the future. The extension of the outdoor demonstrations was highly appreciated, as latest technologies developed in EU projects or national activities were demonstrated. The presence of high-level representatives of the European Commission, as well as national authorities and high-level figures from industry indicated the importance of TRA for this sector. Altogether, TRA has shown the importance of R&D for Europe, namely that the success of the future can only be achieved via European activities with support of national initiatives.”
